True, in most populated countries like Mexico, the death toll was more than 400 per 1 million inhabitants. But please make no mistake, the U.S. with its modern medicine and highest medical expenditures per capita in the industrialized world, had the second highest rate with 125 deaths per 1 million.
With sugar not being the only culprit. According to Johns Hopkins University Center for a Livable Future research in Baltimore, MD, the chemical process of caramel coloring of colas, yes, is carcinogen too. A vicious cycle? Yes.
