TV : DON’T WATCH YOURSELF TO DEATH!

The fact that, according to U.S. governmental Institutes of Health, 2 million Americans die of chronic disease each year, and 50% of those who survive have at least one chronic illness, has 2 basic reasons:
• Wrong (unnatural) healthcare provision (medical treatment).
• Unhealthy lifestyle.
Swedish physician Dr. Are Waerland coined already a century ago the phrase:
“We do not deal with illnesses and diseases. Rather, with ill-conceived lifestyles. Change your lifestyle, and the illnesses and diseases will disappear.”
100 years later, last month on June 25th, 2014, the American Heart Association reported in ScienceDaily that those watching TV for 3 hours or more per day may increase their risk of early death from all causes by 100%!
Based on the results of a landmark study by Professor Miguel Martinez-Gonzalez and colleagues of the Department of Public Health at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain which, according to Professor Martinez-Gonzalez, are “consistent with a range of previous studies where time spent watching television was linked to mortality.”
The researchers at Navarra University had followed healthy university graduates (in average 37 years old, 60% females) for a median time of 8.2 years. Of those who watched TV at least 3 hours per day, 97 died of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other causes. Compared to those who watched TV only one hour or less per day, and survived.
The philosophy behind, as Professor Martinez-Gonzalez and colleagues found out, is not too much crime or fatalities on TV… but rather – believe it or not – too long sedentary periods in front of the TV set, instead of physical activities.
