Needless to stress again that healthy diet and physical activity are not only a basic factor for our health and longevity. Both are important to cut the risk of injuries not only but also of our knees. As it happens frequently otherwise in our modern society. Read on to learn about details.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you have learned from our previous publications, sound health and longevity is based on 2 important activities: healthy diet and physical movement.

As far as the latter is concerned, we have to see that physical movement is not always a positive one. Rather, it can cause negative parameters in cases of unfavorable activities. Or by collision with different objects or persons. Since this is equally important to understand, let’s focus at least on 5 of those. With special reference to impact on our knees:

CAUSES OF KNEE INJURIES – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

*         Bursitis

Knee joints are cushioned by small fluid-filled sacs allowing ligaments and tendons to glide over the joints easily.

These sacs can well become inflamed due to overuse or because of pressure as the result of kneeling.

According to international research at, inter alia,
-      Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA
        &
-      King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan

This type of unfavorable effect named medically as bursitis.

To be treated with antibiotics or aspiration.

*         Collateral ligaments injuries

This type of injury can happen in case of collision with an object or another person.

*         Patellar tendonitis

This is the most common type of inflammation as an injury to the tendon connecting kneecap to shinbone.

Happening frequently to athletes who jump frequently. Therefore, it is also called jumper’s knee.

As based on research at the
-      University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL.

*          Fractures

In fact, any kind of bone in/around knee may be fractured with the afore mentioned being the patella/kneecap.

This is especially dangerous for people with osteoporosis, if they step the wrong way or by tripping.

*         Meniscal tears

This type is named when cartilage in the knee is torn. Which can happen in cases of sporting activities.

After initial injury, tightness/swelling/pain may come up in following days.

IN A NUTSHELL

Needless to stress again that healthy diet and physical activity are not only a basic factor for our health and longevity. Both are important to cut the risk of injuries not only but also of our knees. As it happens frequently otherwise in our modern society.
