MEDITERRANEAN DIET - HEALTHY OR NOT?

While healthy diet is strongly related to health and longevity, the actual impact comes with a cultural relationship. Like from those countries in the world, neighboring the Mediterranean Sea north and south. Read on to learn more about.    

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As we demonstrated several times, to support our health and longevity, besides physical activity also healthy diet is inevitable. Like Mediterranean diet?
 
In fact, there is a strong relationship between health and life expectancy. As far as the latter is concerned, countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea north and south (like Spain and Italy, etc.) have an excellent reputation in this case.
                                                                             
Looking closely to basic nutrition in this area, and asking if and what types of food are beneficially supporting health and longevity.
 
Although foods in this area a rather comprehensive (like anywhere on the globe), we are well advised to differ between what is good – and what is not. 

POSITIVE MEDITERRANEAN FOOD – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

Basically, in this case, Mediterranean diet in favor of good health comes with plant such as
- fruits
- vegetables
- legumes
   &
- whole grains
not exclusively but as main ingredients of meals.
 
Also consumption of healthy fats such as
- olive oil
- fatty fish
    as well as
- nuts
   &
- seeds 

Snacks included such as, inter alia,
- herb-roasted chickpeas
- fresh fruits with some nuts

- hummus with fresh vegetables

NEGATIVE MEDITERRANEAN FOOD – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

- ultra-processed food (like fast food)
- deep-fried/other processed food
- processed meat/hot dogs
- refined grains (pasta/white bread/pizza dough)
- foods with added sweeteners (like pastries/sodas/candies)
