Herbs for Women

Women have relied on herbs for centuries as a treatment for all kinds of ailments.

There are especially herbs that may be used to help with special womanly needs - in all stages of life to help with hormone deficiencies, poor sleep, stress, and weight gain.

For weight management you may try a remedy from the rain-forest. Cha de Bugre is well known in Brazil. In addition, to boost your metabolism and help burn some more calories, drink green tea in combination with ginger and lemon grass.
Senna is an herb that may help, when used wisely, as directed and not excessively.
Senna encourages bowel movements. Senna leaf is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for short-term use in occasional constipation. It is an FDA-approved nonprescription laxative.

Maca, native to Peru, is a root that has been used since Incan times. It increases energy, balances body systems -  may balance the hormonal system during menopause – tends to treat menopausal symptoms as a whole.
The root of Black Cohosh is a Native American remedy. It may assist in menopausal process and may help with premenstrual discomfort.
There are several herbs that may help with mood swings, anxiety, depression. All have to be used with caution, there may be drug interactions. You may give St. John's Wort a try, as well as Valerian.
Lavender is a good choice as well.
