Sedentary lifestyle is very common and popular in our seemingly ‘modern’ world. Related to quite some chronic diseases physically and mentally – and even premature death. Learn why and how to move up – scientifically verified.    

THE PHILOSOPHHY BEHIND

As you know latest from our medical publications and seminars, no synthetics can support and regain our health and longevity. Only our own body can, if we support its immune system and self-healing power. With healthy diet and physical activity. Yes, physical activity.
 
Unfortunately, sedentarism has become the leading lifestyle of our ‘modern’ time. Such as sitting/reclining/lying down. Instead of following the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans of the U.S. Health Department of Health and Human Services. Requiring 150 minutes of physical activity per week.
 
In fact, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) only some 20% of adults are meeting this physical requirement. And only 5% come up with half an hour of physical activity per day.
 
With the consequence of quite a few different ‘chronic’ diseases.

DANGERS OF SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE
​

​As we have learned from international science, these diseases may include, inter alia, not only physical health issues such as
 * cardiovascular disease (including high blood pressure)
* specific types of cancer
* type 2 diabetes   
* obesity  

but also mental health disorders.
 
More than that, it also relates in many cases to
 
* premature death

- University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain

BENEFITS OF MOVEMENT
​

​The risk of all this negative impact may be well cut down by
 
  • increasing physical activity
 
with special reference to exercise and sports.
 
Also
 
  • cutting down time of sedentarism
 
is helpful. E.g., by
 
  • walking to work
  • working at a standing desk
  • standing instead of sitting on public transport
  • taking stairs instead of the elevator
  • making phone calls by walking outside instead of inside the office
