ADJUST YOUR WEIGHT FOR LIFE EXTENSION?

When it comes to longevity, our weight plays a decisive role. Although not in terms of gain or loss but rather with respect to maintenance and management. Read on to learn about details.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you have learned from our previous publications and seminars, almost 90% of non-age-related deaths in the industrialized world, along with almost 80% of diseases in general are the consequence of unsolved (‘chronic’) health issues. According to statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO).

This may be seen in line with the fact that, according to same WHO statistics, 2 thirds of adults in the industrialized world are overweight, half of those even obese. With a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25-35.

Leaves us with the question about the cause behind of this…

RELATIONSHIP OF WEIGHT & LONGEVITY – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

Let’s take a close look at a recent study by the School of Public Health at the University of California in San Diego (UCSD) with 55,000 postmenopausal women. Registered with the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) as a group of clinical studies. Organized by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

As a result they found that females could reach at least 90 years of age, and even 100 if they kept their weight they had already with the age of 60.

However, in this case, being overweight was not decisive. Rather, those women who lost weight unintentionally, had only 50% of chances to reach high age.

THE POWER OF WEIGHT MAINTENANCE/MANAGEMENT

In this respect we may find more conclusions by research at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, TX. According to their findings, women maintaining their weight they reached until age 60, just unchanged ahead, have the best chance to stay alive until age 90, and even 100, if they keep the weight stable.

When we talk about weight maintenance/management we got to understand the respective factors behind which in fact are not only
  • healthy diet
           but also
  • physical activity
  • sound sleep
           & yes
  • social support

in terms of (steady) self-care.

IN A NUTSHELL

When it comes to longevity, our weight plays a decisive role. Although not in terms of gain or loss but rather with respect to maintenance and management.
