ANTIBIOTICS SIDE EFFECTS - THE WORST?

9/16/2018

As you know also from my previous blogs, no synthetic-pharmaceutical drug can cure but comes with manifold debilitating side effects. Antibiotics being probably the worst. Fortunately, nature got alternatives – without side effects and still powerful. Read on to learn more about both.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As indicated in our previous blog, Dr. Alexander Fleming opened the door to inflammation relief with his discovery of the first synthetic antibiotic named pencillin, saving millions of lives by killing harmful bacteria.

With limits. Because pencilin and its pharmaceutical antibiotic followers up do date can only fight bacteria, no viruses. Also, they come with severe side effects which, according to U.S. governmental Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are responsible for 20% of emergency room visits – and thousands of preventable death each year.

Above all – antibiotics cannot cure any disease. Just as no other synthetic-pharmaceutical can cure. Instead, they only suppress the symptoms of the respective ailment – a vicious cycle.

ANTIBIOTIC SIDE EFFECTS – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

In order to avoid and manage antibiotic side effects successfully, the first step should be to know about these side effects with their manifold symptoms.

Based on scientific research at, inter alia, the University College London, UK, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, The University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia, and Drexel University of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.

To start with, let’s talk about the most serious side effects, and their related symptoms.

Like allergic reactions called

Anaphylaxis

in medical terminology.

With potential symptoms such as, inter alia,
  • Dizziness
  • Tingling sensations
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Low blood pressure
  • Seizures
  • Fainting
  • Trouble breathing
  • Wheezing
  • Coughing
  • Feeling o uneasiness
  • Swellings of face, throat, mouth and under the skin
  • Itchy red rash and hives, even over major part of the body

Kidney Failure

The task of kidneys is to clean the blood and body from toxins including side effects of synthetic dugs – including antibiotics through urine - at least to a certain degree.

This implies that in some cases, kidneys are overburdened and quit with kidney failure. This may especially happen with age.

Probably most potential severe side effects come with

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria

such as clostridium difficile which may come with infectious colitis, causing inflammation in the intestines and diarrhea.

Not only this, if this type of colitis stays untreated, it can cause life-threatening infections and even death.

Additionally, following antibiotic-related side effects may not be overlooked.

Digestive Problems

In fact, digestive problems are the most prevalent ones coming along with antibiotics.

With, inter alia, following potential symptoms.
  • Indigestion
  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Blood in stool
  • Bloating
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Cramping and/or pain in the stomach
  • Vomiting
At least, most of these symptoms vanish when you stop taking antibiotics.

Drug Interactions

In fact, there are many types of medications interacting with antibiotics such as, inter alia, pharmaceuticals for
  • Diabetes
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Birth control
  • Psoriasis
  • Diuretics
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Antacids
  • Blood thinners
  • Antifungals
  • Parkinson’s
  • Cholesterol (including statins)
  • Gout
  • Migraine

…just to name the proverbial tip of the iceberg…

This is of specifically of high relevance since, according to the U.S. governmental Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2 million people in the U.S. are infected by antibiotic-resistant bacteria and 23,000 dy from each year.

Photosensitivity

Sensitivity of skin in cases of sun exposure is another serious side effect of swallowing antibiotics.

To avoid, use sunscreen, protective clothing and above all, limit sun exposure.

Finally, watch out for

Fungal Infections

In fact, administering antibiotics may well lead to fungal infections in the mouth, throat or vagina with, inter alia, following symptoms:
  • Burning sensation and pain both, during intercourse and during urination
  • Chills and fever
  • Pain when swallowing food
  • White coating in mouth and throat
  • Soreness, itching and swelling in the vagina, also vaginal discharge
  • Loss of taste
  • Cottony feeling in the mouth

Staining of Bones and Teeth

While some antibiotics may stain bones for some time, they may well stain teeth even for good.

Leaves us with the question if there are natural antibiotics without side effects and still powerful. Yes, there are....

Natural Antibiotics – Scientifically Validated

Just to mention briefly the following sample.
  • Garlic
Only recently scientifically verified again, inter alia, at the Westfaelische Wilhelms University in Muenster, Germany.
  • Ginger
is another powerful antibiotic plant to conquer successfully many bacterial strains.

Based on research at, inter alia, Suin Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
  • Honey
supports healing of wounds and to avoid related infections.

Well known since Aristotle more than 2000 years ago, and scientifically validated today by, inter alia, Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. For treating especially skin-related health issues such as, e.g., ulcers, skin grafts, bedsores, burns, etc.

Including hard to treat MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).

Also

  • Goldenseal
turns out as a powerful natural antibiotic weapon to fight MRSA according to research at, inter alia, The University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC.  To halt MRSA from tissue damage.

Another ‘historic’ natural antibiotic known and used already by native Americans for treating wounds and infections was (still is)
  • Echinacea
Scientifically validated nowadays – also against viruses - by, inter alia, the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada

As another natural and powerful antibiotic we may appreciate

  • Clove
as a natural and powerful antibiotic.

Basically used with dental treatments, and according to research at, inter alia, Chinese Sun Yat-sen University proven power- and successful against many bacteria, including E. coli.

Last but not least let’s take a brief look at
  • Oregano
Scientifically validated by Sun Yat-sen University in China, against MRSA as well.

IN A NUTSHELL

You may know about the fact that not only is the creation of our globe, the Earth, an ecosystem based on natural laws. So is the existence and health of any living species on this planet.

This implies that no synthetic drug can cure a disease – pharmaceutical antibiotics being no exception.

Only natural remedies can – with medicinal herbs in the forefront.

To follow this procedure, however, it is important to know especially about side effects of synthetic antibiotics which in fact are one of the most debilitating. And the natural alternatives. Both you find covered in this blog.

To open your eyes about is the assignment of this blog with a final advice:

If you are prescribed an antibiotic, ask your healthcare provider and pharmacist to advise you on all potential side effects and related symptoms – and ask him/her about natural alternatives. To break up this dramatic vicious cycle.
