Good health is the basic prerequisite for long and happy life. This blog may show you how to support and materialize the goal of good health, naturally. Scientifically validated. Read on to learn more about.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Needless to stress that good health is the basic prerequisite for a long and happy life. Although healthcare costs in the U.S. are more than $3.5 trillion (!) per year, according to the governmental Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this country ranks at position 31 on World Health Organization (WHO) list of international life expectancy only.

Therefore, it is important to follow up and understand what health is all about to support and materialize the goal of good health at least personally.

COMPLEXITY OF HEALTH – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

In fact, health is not a singular issue of physical well-being, but a complexity of health issues, just as WHO put it straight already more than 70 years ago:

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Scientifically verified nowadays by, inter alia, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL.

With physical and mental issues in the forefront, complemented also by spiritual, emotional and financial health.

Besides of potential

  • genetic factors

which may well play a role in health. At least in cases of an unusual genetic pattern or if specific inherited genes may lead to certain health conditions.

Also

  • environmental factors

do play a role with respect to health. In terms of
  • social and economic environment (e.g. low socio-economic status leading to stress-related health issues, etc.)
           and
  • physical environment (e.g. pollution, etc.)

Just as

  • cultural factors

can have an impact on health with customs and traditions of a certain society.

T make a long story short, let’s focus on physical and mental health criteria in following.

Physical health

Physical health, however, is not only the absence of disease. Rather, it is a complexity of vital issues like

  • Regular exercise

to maintain physical fitness supporting, inter alia,
  • Heart function
  • Breathing
  • Muscle strength
and also reducing risk of injuries and health issues.

  • Balanced nutrition
with, minerals, vitamins, fiber, proteins, carbohydrates, fat and water involved.

In this context, when following a Mediterranean diet with lots of whole grain, olive oil, fruits and vegetables, this may give you a lower 10-year all-cause mortality rate. According to research at, inter alia, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Sf. Spiridon Emergency Hospital – both in Iasi, Romania.

As well as

  • Adequate rest with sound sleep at night

Thereby, physical health is strongly related to

Mental health

With reference to
  • emotional
  • psychological
           and
  • social
well-being.

This is no less important than physical health – although manifold overlooked.

Not only in cases of depression, anxiety or anorexia
which may enhance the risk of health disorders.
.
According to research at, inter alia, the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Especially, as good mental health is also strongly related to the ability of
  • enjoying life
  • feeling safe and secure
  • handling bad experiences (e.g. family issues or finances) and adapting to better alternatives

Accordingly, it is important to see the close and complex relationship between physical and mental health instead of a series of different and seemingly independent factors only.

POTENTIAL LIMITATIONS

You may, however, face some kind of ‘unsharpness’ when evaluating your health. E.g., if you are obliged to partial or complete lockdown, as this may require, and lead to, unhealthful changes.

Such as lack of physical activities due to sedentary lifestyle, and mentally in terms of anxiety or depression involved.

According to research at, inter alia, Louisiana State University’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

IN A NUTSHELL

Good health is the basic prerequisite for long and happy life. Unfortunately yet, the U.S. ranks low in terms of life expectancy internationally. Despite of highest costs p.c. in health care in the industrialized world, summing up to $3.5 trillion per year. This blog may show you how to support and materialize the goal of good health, naturally. Scientifically validated.
