BRACE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM NATURALLY

The most important natural tool for long and healthy life is our inherent immune system. Especially, the older we get. Yet, it is important to support it by appropriate lifestyle factors regularly, to ward off chronic disease and premature death. With special reference to both sides of the immune system – innate and adaptive immunity. Read on to learn more about.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

To live a healthy and long life depends primarily on our inherent strong and powerful immune system. To ward off infections leading to chronic illness and premature death. While this is basic part of our existence, we still need to support our immune system during our whole life. Because the immune system not only is weakening over time, it also becomes imbalanced later in life.

This is true for both sides of our immune system – the innate immunity and the adaptive immunity.

The

Innate immunity

is important to avoid infections potentially leading otherwise to chronic inflammation such as, inter alia, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes or dementia, and in autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

On the other side, the

Adaptive immunity

recognizes/remembers and attacks/neutralizes particular pathogens to defend against bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

This part of our immune system has special reference later in life. Not only to avoid chronic illness and premature death by itself, a weak adaptive immunity also makes vaccinations less effective. This is also true for flu vaccinations which, if done repeatedly, could even lead to reduction of antibody responses.

NATURAL WAYS TO BOLSTER IMMUNITY – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

To strengthen the immune system the natural way also later in life, comprehensive international research recommends following lifestyle adjustments.

Physical exercise

On a regular basis, physical exercise is inevitable, according to research at, the

and the

Because keeping skeleton muscles intact produces proteins named myokines which cut down inflammation and supports immunity. With special reference to health conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes 2, which are strongly linked to chronic inflammation.

Mediterranean diet

Chances to avoid frailty with special reference to loss of muscle strength, walking slowly and getting easily tired are also linked to Mediterranean diet with special reference to, inter alia,
  • Large amounts of olive oil, leafy vegetable and fruit
  • moderate amounts of fish, dairy and poultry
           and
  • low amounts of added sugar and red meat
lowering also the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes 2.

Based on research at, inter alia, the

           and the

Weight management

is at the same time equally important, since up to 30% of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6 to be found in the bloodstream come from adipose tissue, as a massive contributor to being overweight and obese, leading to chronic inflammation considerably.

According to research at, inter alia,

IN A NUTSHELL

The most important natural tool for long and healthy life is our inherent immune system. Especially, the older we get. Yet, it is important to support it by appropriate lifestyle factors regularly, to ward off chronic disease and premature death. With special reference to both sides of the immune system – innate and adaptive immunity, as you have learned in this blog.
