8/20/2017

While conventional treatment of constipation as a leading, and in many cases chronic health issue has not found satisfactory answers yet, ask nature for appropriate alternatives in and outside of the South American rainforest. Just read on…

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Debbie MacCormick from Augusta, GA, asks:

Whatever I eat, it makes me not only sated, fortunately, but also constipated (which is certainly less fortunate). Is this somehow law of nature I have to accept, Doctor?

Dr. Fritz:

There are no unfortunate laws of nature on this planet. Rather, based on the biologic-ecologic system, any unfortunate result of our existence is strictly man-made.

Constipation, which means less than at least 3 bowel movements per week, being no exception. Only too often related to symptoms like bloating and abdominal pain. Leading to reduced mental and physical health.

With 20% of the population affected, and some 8 million visiting their doctor because of this – in many cases chronic - health issue. and idiopathic in those cases with causes unknown.

Although idiopathic in some cases with causes unknown, in most cases, however, it is caused, inter alia, by unhealthy lifestyle, medication, diseases, or even certain foods.

Fortunately yet, there are…

NATURAL ANSWERS SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

Inter alia,

Probiotic Foods

Similar the results with

Prebiotic Foods

like bananas, onions or garlic, etc., as research at, inter alia, the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN, shows.

Enough

Fiber

in your diet – especially soluble fiber – may be helpful, as more than ¾ of chronically constipated people are improving bowel movements with.

According to research at, inter alia, Queen Mary University, King’s College and University College in London, UK.

Prunes

in addition to fiber are beneficial for better bowel movements, as they contain a natural laxative – sorbitol. According to research at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL.

Not to forget about

Boldo

the berrylike fruit from the Andean region of Chile and Peru in the South American rainforest, the biggest ‘natural pharmacy’ in the world.

According to research at, inter alia, the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile, and McMaster University in Canada, etc.

When we talk about natural laxatives, also the herb

Senna

needs to be mentioned, as it stimulates the nerves in the gut. According to research at, inter alia, the University of Regensburg in Germany.

Increase Water Consumption

since dehydration is leading to constipation. For adults and children alike, as research shows at, inter alia, the Research Institute of Child Nutrition in Dortmund, Germany, and Nestle Water Institute in Vittel, France, etc.
Especially sparking (carbonated) water. But refrain from sugary drinks, as those not only make constipation even worse but they are unfortunate for your health in general (Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, etc.).

Finally,

Exercising

Helps to improve bowel movements according to, inter alia, the University of Toronto in Canada.

Anything to avoid?

Dairy

...in cases of lactose intolerance which may well cause constipation according to research at, inter alia, the University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran.
