CUT DEATH RISK WITH RELIGIOUS SERVICE ?

9/4/2016

Most of us may have personally experienced that, attending church worship can well have a positive effect on our spiritual well-being. Now we learn from a recent study developed at renowned Harvard University that worships can have an even more important health benefit. I.e., attending religious service at your church – which creed so ever – may even lower your risk of premature death. Learn more....
.
Lydia Benson from Waukesha, WI, asks:

When attending worship on Sunday, my ego is built up considerably for the whole week. When I tell this to my more ‘rational’ friends they take it for a myth. Are there any scientific findings in this direction?

Dr. Fritz:

A recent study from Harvard University in Boston, MA, not only supports your personal findings but goes even farther.

Science Validates Spirituality

The study was based on the data of more than 70,000 women who also participated in the Nurses’ Health Study, for a period of 16 years. Most of them being regular worshipers at least once a week at Catholic and Protestant churches. They lowered their risk of dying prematurely from all kinds of ailments, with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer on top of the statistics, by 26%, and those who attended worship more than once a week even by 33%. In comparison to those who did not attend regular religious service.

Philosophy Behind

The philosophy behind, according to the Harvard researchers, may well be lifestyle factors like depression, social support, smoking, and optimism, on one side with heavy impact on our health, and on the other on the spiritual and educational church environment.

These findings are scientifically validated by a series of meta-analyses carried out at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, stating that spiritual well-being from religious service comes with less depression, anxiety, and distress - all fueling the risk of premature death.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the bracket between health and spiritual wisdom of the church has not become part of medical treatment yet.

Still, make no mistake: while spirituality at worship can lower your risk of premature death, to get rid of your chronic illness takes additional natural remedies and modalities, based on latest scientific breakthroughs, and in line with your individual metabolism.
