The debilitating side effect of diabetes is the raise of blood sugar with regular refined and calorie-loaded table sugar. Fortunately, nature gives us alternative sweeteners in form of fruits and other plants to cut down this phenomenon with less calories for better health. Read on to learn more about.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Diabetics have to be very careful when it comes to raising their blood sugar (glucose) level with regular refined and calorie-loaded table sugar. Spiking the hormone insulin. However, this does not necessarily mean to do without any kind of sweets at all. Rather, you can well reduce this danger naturally, when it comes to sweeteners from fruits and other plants.

NATURAL SWEETENERS – SCIENTIFICALLY SUPPORTED

Based on research at, inter alia, Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, Znejang Wanli University in Ning, and Beijing Technology and Business University in Beijing – all 3 Republic of China, following natural sweeteners are scientifically recommended.

Monk fruit

As we find it in Southern China, this fruit contains mogosides which contain fruit sugar up to 150-200 times more sweet than regular sugar.

Erythritol

as a derivate of fruit, is in fact a sugar alcohol which can also be bought in powdered form, usually very refined.

Although it tastes with 60-80% of regular sugar sweetness, its calories are only a fraction.

Not only this, since most of erythritol is exiting the body with urine, it does not enrich blood sugar level.

Similar

Xylitol

which is also a sugar alcohol, in this case derived from birch trees, containing much less calories than regular sugar.

Since the body absorbs xylitol much slower than regular sugar, it does not lead to same dramatic spike in blood sugar as it comes along with regular sugar.

Not only this, it has the power of preventing tooth cavities – that’s why some chewing gums and tooth pastes contain this substance xylitol.

Yacon syrup

As a dark brown nectar originating in South America, it is derived from the yacon plant.

Although it contains calories, its amount is still half of regular sugar.

Also, as it is high in soluble fiber, feeding healthy bacteria in the intestine and accordingly, it supports digestion, relieving constipation at the same time.

With the effect of losing weight like with many other natural sweeteners.

IN A NUTSHELL

The debilitating side effect of diabetes is the raise of blood sugar with regular refined and calorie-loaded table sugar. Fortunately, nature gives us alternative sweeteners in form of fruits and other plants to cut down this phenomenon with less calories for better health.
