FIGHTING CANCER WITH SUNSHINE?

7/8/2018

Fighting cancer with sunshine to enhance your body's self-healing power with vitamin D? What if you live in parts of the world not blessed with sunshine all day long? Besides of the fact that sun is basically shining all over the globe, you don’t need sunbathing all day long (that would be dangerous). Additionally, you may support your vitamin D level with vitamin D containing food, as also mentioned in this blog and other blogs before. This is how your cycle of health and life (extension) still closes in a positive way. Just read on to learn more about, scientifically validated…

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Dory Barker from Kalamazoo, Michigan, asks:

After having a cancer recrudescence despite of several chemo sessions, I wonder if there is a natural avenue of escape?

Dr. Fritz:

We are facing some 1,800 so called chronic – speak: unsolved – diseases in our industrialized world. Cancer being second on top of the list, passed only by heart disease and followed by diabetes, respectively.

Since our globe the Earth is a perfectly organized ecologic phenomenon strictly based on natural laws, ‘chronic’ does not mean non-curable.

However, no disease can be cured with synthetic remedies and modalities, only by our body itself. With its immune system and natural self-healing power, respectively. Strictly based on appropriate natural therapies.

Cancer being no exception.

NATURE’S ANSWER TO CANCER – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

There are quite a few natural remedies and modalities to fight cancer successfully, as you have learned from my previous blogs. While we cannot cover all in this brief blog again, we shall focus at least on one of these natural ‘wonder drugs’, getting more and more attention not only in the past but scientifically validated in our modern times:

Vitamin D

This is not only an essential vitamin (unfortunately most citizens in our industrialized world are deficient of) for healthy bones by promoting calcium absorption but which also strengthens our immune system, thus warding off disease – cancer included.

For statistical purpose just look at Japan, the Asian country ranking second on the global list of life expectancy, trailing only Mediterranean Monaco.

According to research at the Center for Public Health Sciences of the Japanese National Cancer Center, as well as Shiga University, both located in Tokyo, and published in globally renowned British Medical Journal, Japanese have a diminished risk of cancer with higher level of Vitamin D in their blood. Based on a meta-analysis of more than 30,000 Japanese adult participants, with a follow-up period of 16 years.

While this Japanese study found a reduced risk of cancer by 20% with appropriate blood level of vitamin D (higher than 60 nanograms per milliliter – ng/ml), a deficiency of this essential vitamin may well raise the risk of colorectal (bowel) cancer according to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA, the United States National Cancer Institute in Rockville, MD, and the Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, CA.

Similar scientific results come from the above mentioned Japanese Shiga University of Medical Science, according to which vitamin D may well lower  the risk of breast cancer considerably. Scientifically validated, inter alia, by U.S. medical schools as the University of California in San Diego, California, the Medical University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Not enough, according to scientific findings at the University of Warwick and Coventry in the UK, deficiency of vitamin D may also increase the risk of bladder cancer, as validated recently by the UK Society of Endocrinology.

SOURCES OF VITAMIN D

Leaves us with the question about best sources of vitamin D for our body. At least with a daily input of 600 International Units minimum, as a benchmark stated by to the U.S. governmental National Institutes of Health.

Although a few foods contain non-fortified vitamin D such as, inter alia, cod liver oil, cooked salmon and swordfish, egg yolks, liver, mushrooms, etc., the very best (and cheapest...) source of vitamin D is exposing any part of your skin to sunlight, as the ultraviolet rays produce vitamin D endogenously in your skin. Purely naturally. But be aware of potential danger of uv rays as well! Do not sun bath, rather walk or exercise. And avoid times of high uv levels during the day. Consider being outside just an hour before sunset.

CONCLUSION

Fighting cancer with sunshine? What to do if you live in parts of the country not blessed with sunshine all day long? Besides of the fact that sun is basically shining all over the globe, from north to south, and from east to west, you don’t need sunbathing all day long. Sun exposure of 20 minutes at noon, five times a week, may serve as a benchmark. If not viable in your daily life, support your vitamin D level also with vitamin D containing food, as mentioned above. This is how your cycle of health and life (extension) still closes in a positive way.
