As a biologic-ecologic fact, our well being requires specific nutrients to prevent and overcome even so called ‘chronic’ ailments and diseases (related in many cases to premature death). Read on to learn more about…

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Kelly Beaver from Carlsbad, California, asks:

There is no ailment for which I don’t get a prescription. Wonderful? Not necessarily, because these prescriptions suppress this and that symptom, without solving the underlying problem. Any natural alternative, Doc?

Dr. Fritz:

Our globe, the Earth, is a perfectly organized biologic-ecologic phenomenon strictly based on natural laws.

So is our physical and mental health, requiring specific foods to prevent and overcome even so called ‘chronic’ ailments and diseases which, in many cases, are related to premature death.

BENEFITS OF HEALTHY FOOD – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

While the portfolio of health conditions related to unhealthy diet is endless, which cannot be covered in this blog completely, let’s focus on following small selection, starting with those health conditions ranking top of our ‘chronic’ diseases in our modern society such as heart failure and cancer.

Heart Health

Almost 100 million U.S. citizens – roughly one third of the population - have cardiovascular problems, including stroke.

Fortunately, this can be managed naturally with foods such as, e.g.,

  • Green vegetables
  • Nuts (peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts)
  • Sunflower seeds

Additionally, by eliminating trans fats from your diet to decrease the level of ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL) and the risk of stroke at the same time. And reducing salt intake down to 1,500 milligrams to control blood pressure.

Based on research at, inter alia, Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health as well as Brigham and Women’s Hospital, located in Boston, Massachusetts, scientifically validated also at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands.

Cancer

In fact, unhealthy diet consequently leading to obesity in many cases, may well cause cancer. Especially colorectal and liver cancer, as well as cancer of the gastrointestinal tract.

To reduce this risk, vegetables and fruits with their manifold phytochemicals are an excellent choice. Without going vegetarian or even vegan, just make it part of your daily diet with manifold phytochemicals, including lycopene, carotene, and vitamins A, C and E.

According to research at, inter alia, the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta/Canada, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Kansas Medical Center in Westwood, KS, the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL, and Columbia University in New York – etc.

Memory Support

To support your memory and avoiding cognitive decline, Mediterranean diet is certainly an excellent paragon, with special reference to, inter alia,

  • Fish
  • Vitamins C, D and E
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Polyphenols
  • Flavonoids

As you have learned from our blogs before, scientifically validated, inter alia, by the Medical University in Innsbruck, Austria.

Mood Enhancement

To avoid depression and other mood-related issues, nutritional support with low-glycemic diet such as

  • Vegetables
  • Whole fruits
           and
  • Whole grains

is advisable according to research at, inter alia, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington.

CONCLUSION

As a biologic-ecologic fact, our well being requires specific nutrients to prevent and overcome even so called ‘chronic’ ailments and diseases (related in many cases to premature death). With special reference to following pros and cons:

      *   Be sure whole vegetables and fruits make half of your meal
  • Drink water and herbal teas instead of soft drinks containing added sugar and less fiber in most cases
  • For milk prefer plant-based variety
  • For proteins prefer lean type as contained in fish, eggs, nuts, tofu
  • Avoid processed meat, being usually high in salt
