Appropriate diet plays a decisive role to become a centenarian. To get some idea about, read on. Scientifically verified.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Don’t we all want to live a long life, as it is the only one – and most precious good we got at all. To materialize, health plays the crucial role.

According to research at, inter alia, the Institute of Preventive and Clinical Medicine in Bratislava, Slovakia, women live longer than men – worldwide – especially if they are physically active.

In figures: according to the U.S. governmental Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in average females live 79 years, and males 73.

Some of the reasons for this difference in terms of gender are that males, according to CDC, inter alia,
  • suffer more occupational injuries and premature death
  • drink more alcohol
  • don’t check their health frequently enough

Although, on the other hand, women suffer from
  • depression
  • autoimmune disease (like rheumatoid arthritis)
  • Alzheimer’s
statistically more frequently than men.

While these differences are gender-like, basically, appropriate diet – besides physical exercise – plays a mandatory role. Based on research at, inter alia,

- Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne
in Switzerland

   &
- University of Southern California
in Los Angeles

Accordingly, let’s focus briefly on

DIET FOR LONGEVITY – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

Based on a meta-analysis with hundreds of studies by the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne in Switzerland, with special reference to the lifestyle of centenarians. Verified by the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Following these results, to materialize longevity may be based on following dietary criteria.

  • 12 hours eating/12 hours fasting per day
  • High protein consumption until age 65/then lower down
  • Whole grain/legume rich pescatarian/vegetarian diet
  • One third of calories from olive oil/nuts/other vegetarian fats
  • No red/processed meat – low white meat
  • Low sugar/refined carbohydrates
I.e., a primarily (although not exclusively) plant-based diet - instead of a ‘Western diet’.

Starting at age 60.

Also, keep lean body mass with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of less than 25.

Based on the fact that, according to World Health Organization’s statistics, in the industrialized world,
  • 86% of non-age-related deaths
           &
  • 77% of all ailments in general
are the consequence of chronic/unsolved health problems, with
  • cardiovascular disease
  • cancer
           &
  • diabetes
on top which. to be sure, is highly counterproductive to become a centenarian….

IN A NUTSHELL

Besides of genetics, ethnicity and lifestyle factors including physical exercise, appropriate diet plays a decisive role to become a centenarian. As you got some idea about in this chapter. Scientifically verified.
