THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

For long and healthy life, well-functioning of the cardiovascular system of our body is inevitable. As it supplies any organ and cell in your body with oxygen and nutrients it can’t do without.
 
Doing justice accordingly, the U.S. is foremost in terms of conventional medicine in this respect, historically. With, inter alia,
 
  • 1st open heart surgery already 1893 by Dr. Daniel Hale Williams
  • 1st heart transplant 1969 by Dr. Denton Cooley
  • 1st cardiovascular specialist Dr. Paul Dudley White, co-founder of the American Heart Association in 1924 and personal physician of former (34th) U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961)
 
Despite of this highly reputed medical development historically, according to current World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, in the industrialized world,

- 86% of non-age-related deaths
   
&
- 77% of ailments in general
are the consequence of chronic (unsolved) health issues.
 
With
  • heart disease
           on top, followed by
  • cancer
           &
  • diabetes

Leaves us with the question how to balance out this vicious circle, with special reference to our heart.
 
Based on the fact that only our body can save our health and cure any disease with its inherent immune system and self-healing power. Supported by natural remedies. Unlike medical synthetics.
 
While different lifestyle factors may well play a positive role, appropriate – natural – diet is the key factor.

​HEART-HEALTHY DIET – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), scientifically supported by, inter alia,
  • Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD
           &
  • Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA
and rounded up by the
  • Dietary Guidelines for Americans of the governmental U.S. Department of Agriculture
following heart-healthy/anti-inflammatory diet (cardiac diet) is recommended. Including, inter alia:
 - 
whole grains (in terms of bread/pasta/oats/brown rice)
 - fruits (like apples/blueberries/oranges)
 - vegetables (like broccoli/leafy green veggies/tomatoes/pepper)
 - oily fish/sea food (with special reference to their contents of omega-3 - such as, inter alia, 
​    herring/salmon/sardines/mackerel/black cod/bluefin tuna)
 - l
ow fat/fat free dairy (like nonfat or low-fat yogurt/skim or 1% milk/low fat or reduced fat cheeses)
 - protein from legumes/nuts/seeds
 - olive oil  

Quantity-wise, the American Heart Association recommends (in line with above mentioned researchers)  
  • 4-5 servings (2.5 cups) of vegetables per day
  • 2 servings of fish per week (3 ounces per serving)
  • 2-3 cups per day of legumes (like chickpeas/black beans/tofu/lentils/tempeh/adzuki beans/kidney beans/fava beans) & nuts (like walnuts/hazelnuts/cashews/almonds/pecans/Brazil nuts/peanuts) & seeds (like flaxseeds/chia seeds/pumpkin seeds/hemp seeds/sunflower seeds)
 
On the other hand, limit
  • salt
  • sodas/energy drinks and other sugar sweetened foods/beverages
  • red & processed meat
  • starchy vegetables (like potatoes and squash)
  • refined carbohydrates (like cookies/cakes/pastries/white flour/pizza dough/white bread-pasta-rice)
 
This dietary pattern is also in line with Mediterranean diet, as you have learned in our previous publications and seminars.
