MANAGE HIGH CHOLESTEROL NATURALLY?

Too high cholesterol level in blood is one of the most problematic - not to say: life-threatening – phenomena of our time. Since, however, in most cases, it is not genetic but ‘man-made’, learn how to manage it – naturally…

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Penelope McGuire from Boothbay Harbor, ME, asks:

When my brother suffered a stroke, he was told it was the consequence of high cholesterol in his blood. Despite of trying to suppress it with drugs - ? It looks as if this was a vicious cycle with no escape, Doc?

Dr. Fritz:

High blood level of cholesterol (with LDL higher than 160 mg/dL) is indeed a manifold underrated but life-threatening situation. Inhibiting blood vessel function and, accordingly, blood flow to the heart.

With potential cardiovascular diseases (CVD) as a consequence. Such as heart failure, heart attacks, and stroke – in fact no. 1 on a long list of chronic illnesses with many fatalities.

Yet, it is preventable. While cholesterol – as an essential building block of our body – is synthesized by our body itself in normal biologic range and in appropriate amount as HDL, additional cholesterol is consumed with food of animal origin in form of LDL.

In other words, the actual health problem with cholesterol does not come from inside of our body but is imposed from the outside. As a matter of changeable and preventable lifestyle.

Although in the U.S. alone, prescribed drugs for reducing LDL cholesterol are leading to an annual sales volume of almost 150 billion (!) dollars per year, more than 70 million U.S. citizens (one third of adult population) with raised LDL cholesterol are still running in cycles with no solution yet.

NATURE’S ANSWER

Since the blood level of cholesterol in most cases is not genetically manifested but rather ‘man-made’ as the consequence of ill-conceived lifestyle, yes, nature is offering answers – cheap and effective. With easy to follow lifestyle changes, to reduce LDL cholesterol in blood and inflammation. Based, inter alia, on research of the European Society of Cardiology.
