MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH BIBLICAL HERBS

12/24/2017

You may have learned from my previous Medical Sunday Blogs that the Holy Bible is not only a spiritual source but a 'Book of Life' with profound advice on our health. With special reference to medicinal herbs. Today, I shall add the profile of another Biblical herb – maybe the most potent one at all. Just read on to learn more about. Biblical citation included…

BACKGROUND

Jonathan Seymour from Stillwater, OK, asks:

When I saw recently nopal (cactus pads) at a farmers market down in Texas, I wondered what the benefit of this plant may be?

Dr. Fritz:

You may have learned from my Medical Sunday Blogs …

  • “The Holy Bible – Your Source of Health?” (http://www.naturalonlinedoctor.com/blog/the-holy-bible-your-source-of-health),

  • “Frankincense – A Biblical Wonder Herb?” (http://www.naturalonlinedoctor.com/blog/frankincense-a-biblical-wonder-herb)

… about the wealth of medicinal herbs documented in the Holy Bible.

Also see my seminars on “Health from the Bible” about the historic event when the 3 Wise Men came to Jesus’ birth more than 2000 years ago with 3 gifts: all medicinal herbs.

NOPAL - ?

Today, I would like to add another highly potent Biblical herb – in fact a super herb – you may not want to miss for the rest of your (healthy) life: nopal, the Spanish word for the pads of the most abundant genus of the cactus plant family. Also known as prickly pear, cactus pear and opuntia. (Botanical name: Opuntia Ficus Indica)

This herb is native to the mountains of Mexico (where it is used in traditional medicine, inter alia for diabetes). But it is also found beyond the Mexican border in southwest America, as it grows wild also in the Mediterranean, the northern USA, the Middle East, Australia, South Africa and India.

With ancient

BIBLICAL CITATION
 in
 >> Genesis 3:18 <<

“It will produce thorns and thistle for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.”

CONTEMPORARY SCIENTIFIC VALIDATION

2000 years later this biblical herb has found scientific proof in our time as well.

Inter alia by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, Hawaii, as well as the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City, the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo, the Universidad Autonoma de Nayarit, and the Diagnostico Medica Alameda in Cordoba, all Mexico.

On one side, nopal is a very humble plant in terms of management, irrigation, fertilization, etc., as it is basically growing wild.

On the other, specifically the leaves of this herb are a tremendous powerhouse of health. Rich in nutrients such as, inter alia, minerals (calcium magnesium, phosphorus, etc.), vitamins (A, B, C, K) chlorophyll, protein, as well as pectin. To prevent, relieve and overcome a whole portfolio of nowadays ailments and diseases.

Not to forget also about the highly valuable content of this herb: dietary fiber. Because the higher the intake of dietary fiber, the less chronic illnesses will develop - the highest preventable death toll in the country.

The appropriate intake for dietary fiber for adults is 25 g (females) and 38 g (males). Unfortunately, only 5% of the population meet this goal, with the high risk of getting chronically ill.

Nopal is helping to fill this gap, besides fruits, vegetables, whole grain, legumes, nuts, etc. As recommended in the Holy Bible more than 2000 years ago.

NOPAL'S HEALTH BENEFITS

Just to name in the following a few ailments of our time (the proverbial ‘tip of the iceberg’) for which nopal is of great value.

E.g.,

Cancer

Because nopal’s high content of dietary fiber supports the dilution of cancerous cells potentially developing colon and other types of cancer.

We may additionally look at nopal’s anti-inflammatory components such as polyphenols, glycoproteins and sterols, fighting atherosclerosis as the primary cause of

Coronary Heart Disease

accordingly.

As well as its beneficial role to prevent or lower

High Blood Pressure

because of nopal’s high potassium content.

Diabetes

is another highly relevant health issue in this context. Because fiber and pectin, additionally to nopal’s 18 amino acids, are lowering blood glucose, as it decreases the absorption of sugar in the stomach and intestine. Maintaining normal blood sugar level for preventing diabetes 2 naturally.

That’s why it is recommended for

Weight Management & Prevention of Obesity

as well.

Also, nopal reduces ‘bad’ (LDL)

Cholesterol

The content of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals is beneficial for the promotion of an excellent

Digestion

with

Preventing
Constipation

and

 Cleansing the Colon

at the same time since nopal absorbs water from the colon.

Another health benefit is nopal’s natural boost of our

Immune System

in general, as well as our

Circulatory, Respiratory and Digestive System

specifically.

Just as the 3 gifts (medicinal herbs) of the 3 Wise Men in the Holy Bible, so does nopal

Control Inflammation

which stands behind each ailment, arthritis included.

Not to forget about

Strengthening Bones

because of the calcium content in nopal leaves, thus avoiding osteoporosis.

Etc.

CONCLUSION

Beyond of the above indicated small selection of health conditions, there is almost no part of our body’s eco-biologic system for which nopal leaves may not be of any help. Including premature aging and life extension, respectively.

Leaves us with the question, if and where you can buy nopal pads on the free market? Yes, you can. E.g. where you find also other fresh Mexican vegetables.

More than 2000 years after it was cited in the Holy Bible.

Have a Merry Christmas & a Healthy New Year!
