NATURE'S WONDER DRUGS

6/18/2017

As you know from my Medical Sunday Blogs, no synthetic chemical can prevent and cure any disease. Only your body’s inherent immune system and self-healing power can, based strictly on specific nutrients and natural remedies. With special reference to medicinal herbs. Read on to learn if, and how, e.g., green tea may have an impact on your health and life.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Tusnelda Sebring from Watertown, NY, asks:

When it comes to nutrients and natural remedies, it seems there are different schools of thought in terms of health. How do you see it, Doc?

Dr. Fritz:

Yes, there are different schools of thought with respect to natural remedies.

SCIENCE-BASED FINDINGS

That’s why it is even more important especially in medicine to ask science first, instead of scrutinizing evidence-based ‘opinions’ only.

Just look at green tea as an example, when it comes to cancer prevention. In fact, there are more than 1,000 scientific studies related to green tea for cancer prevention alone.

E.g., according to recent research at Northwest University in Xian, China,
catechins (polyphenols in green tea) can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by more than 60%.

These results are in line with the findings of Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, where laboratory studies related to prostate cancer have verified that decaffeinated green tea catechins “inhibit cancer cell growth…and stimulate cancer cell death.” This may be seen especially in the light that, according to U.S. official government statistics, 160,000 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer only this year.

Not enough, according to, inter alia, research at Babol University of Medical Sciences in Babol, Iran, green fights 5 basic counterproductive processes in our body: diabetes-related glycation, inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, oxidative stress, and negative effects on the intestinal microbiome.

According to research at, inter alia, Okayama University in Japan, this effect implies a lower mortality risk of up to more than 75% diseases, including so called ‘chronic’ diseases with heart failure, cancer, and diabetes on top of the list.

CONCLUSION

The obvious health benefit of green tea, as manifold scientifically validated, may well be rounded up by appropriate lifestyle adjustments with respect to diet rich in fruits and vegetables, but low in fat, as well as (preferably aerobic) exercise.
