While you can treat anxiety with some lifestyle techniques such as, inter alia, meditation, deep breathing techniques and exercise, etc., there are still quite a few nutrients to support this self-management with quite a few nutrients as focused on in this blog. Read on to learn more about.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

Anxiety hits almost 7 million U.S. citizens in many different ways, such as panic, phobias, fear and unease, etc. Fortunate, however, in case you are a victim, you don’t have to rely on medication in this case. Rather, nature shows us the way to ease the symptoms of anxiety without intellectual sophistication but essential nutrients and herbal medicines instead. With special reference to vitamins B and D, minerals such as magnesium, and other nutrients.

NATURE’S WAYS OUT OF ANXIETY – SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED

Manifested by research at, inter alia, the University of Arkansas in Fayettevill, US-State of Arkansas, St. Mary’s University in Calgary, Canada, and the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, we shall focus on following nutrients as an excerpt.

Just let’s start with

Vitamin B complex

E.g., according to research at the Medical University in Pleven, Bulgaria, and Victoria University in Werribee, Australia, a low level of vitamin B-12 (which you can balance, e.g., with animal based food such as meat and innards like liver, etc.) may well cause depression and anxiety.

Or take

Vitamin D

which plays a decisive role in mood regulation – especially in women with type 2 diabetes – and may be a cause of anxiety in in cases of vitamin D shortage.

Based on research of, inter alia, Loyola University Chicago in Maywood, US-State of Illinois.

Fortunately, it is easy to balance out this potential shortage of vitamin D with nature by exposing any part of your skin to sunlight, as UV sunlight is producing vitamin D in your body. Additionally, consumption of foods rich in vitamin D such as, inter alia, fatty fish (Salmon, mackerel, etc.) can also balance any vitamin D deficiency.

Magnesium

The probably most important and essential mineral for functioning of any system in our body is certainly magnesium. Anxiety being no exception.

Based on research at, inter alia, the University of Leeds in Leeds, UK.

With the benefit of finding this essential mineral in many conventional foods such as, inter alia,

  • Spinach
  • Whole wheat
  • Black beans
  • Quinoa
  • Nuts (cashews & almonds)
  • Dark chocolate

Entering the kingdom of medicinal herbs for relieving anxiety, let’s start with

Lavender

Not as a nutrient for consumption but rather as a relaxing scent to relieve anxiety.

E.g., by applying lavender cream to skin to reduce anxiety for pregnant women – according to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Tabriz, Iran.

Or by using lavender in aromatherapy before surgery based on research of New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

Chamomile

Known in fact for thousands of years because of its calming virtue, this medicinal plant has also been scientifically validated in this capacity contemporarily by, inter alia, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, US-State of Pennsylvania.

Valerian Root

Similar the case for valerian root which also has been used for medicinal purposes to relieve anxiety since thousands of years.

Contemporarily validated in Iran at Tehran University of Medical sciences and Iran University of Medical Sciences in Iran’s capital Tehran.

Lemon Balm

Also this medicinal plant with a lemon-like aroma is very popular for calming down anxiety.

According to research according to, inter alia, Baqivatallah University of Medical Sciences and Iran University of Medical Sciences - both in Iran’s capital Tehran.

L-theanine

This herbal substance we find in green and black tea, is historically known as an anti-anxiety sedative.

Scientifically validated today by research at, inter alia, Swinburne University of Technology in Hawthorn, Australia.

Finally, we may not overlook

Omega-3 fatty acids

To be taken from in flaxseed and fish, since our body cannot produce this natural substance by itself. With the benefit that this nutrient can prevent and treat anxiety and depression.

Based on research at, inter alia, the University of Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.
