Our heart is the ‘motor’ of our existence and direct function of our physical & mental wellbeing. Therefore, it needs complex attention.  Specific lifestyle factors help to achieve long and healthy life. Read on to learn about details.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you have learned from our previous publications and seminars, the cardiovascular reputation of the U.S. is foremost in medical history. With, inter alia
  • 1st open heart surgery (Dr. Michael E. DeBakey)
  • 1st artificial heart transplant (Dr. Denton Cooley)
  • 1st heart repair with stem cells (Dr. Ed Marban)
  • 1st modern cardiologist (Dr. Paul Dudley White – personal physician of President Eisenhower)

Still – according to statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO), 86% of non-age-related deaths and 77% of diseases in general are the consequence of unsolved (chronic) health issues. With heart failure on top of the list, followed by cancer ranking #2 and diabetes ranking #3.

LIFE’S ESSENTIAL 8 FOR HEALTH OF HEART & BEYOND

Now we learn from the American Heart Association (AHA) and its Life’s Essential 8 program that specific heart-healthy lifestyle criteria may not only support health of the heart but may also fight chronic diseases – including cancer and diabetes.

These lifestyle criteria to take care of in best interest of healthy heart and disease prevention in general are
  • physical activity
  • healthy diet
  • sound sleep
  • healthy weight (regular body mass index)
  • managing blood pressure
  • regular blood glucose
  • regular blood lipids
  • non-smoking

Which are related to heart health based on the fact that our human existence is a biologic-ecologic phenomenon integrating our whole body and mind.

As scientifically verified internationally by, inter alia,

- Erasmus University Medica l Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands
- University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS
- University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN
- University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY
As well as
- University of Texas Health Sciences Center

&
- Baylor College of Medicine
(both in Houston, TX)

This implies that taking care of these heart-related lifestyle factors is extending our life expectancy considerably along with cardiovascular health and free of chronic diseases.

With special reference to

  • walking

as part of physical activity (mentioned above as #1 of the 8 life’s essentials) of at least 3,000 steps (1.5 miles) up to 10,000 steps daily.

Respectively, 150 minutes per week of moderate/vigorous walking according to U.S. governmental Physically Activity Guidelines for Americans of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

With the benefit of not only supporting bone health but also with respect to
  • manage blood pressure
           &
  • blood sugar
as well as
  • weight & stress reduction

Based on research at, inter alia,

- Harvard University
in Cambridge, MA

- University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA
   &
- University of Alabama
in Birmingham, AL

Scientifically verified also by the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute with respect to cardiovascular health.
