Healthy diet is certainly a basic parameter of our life and longevity. However, it is of vital relevance to understand, for which physical and mental implications of our biologic existence healthy diet is specifically important, and which type of it, respectively.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you have learned latest from our publications and seminars, healthy diet – besides physical activity – is the fundament of our health and longevity. Basically. Still, we need to know for which physical and mental health conditions healthy diet is specifically important?

Appreciating the fact that, according to the World Health Organization (WHO),
  • 86% of non-age-related premature deaths
           &
  • 77% of all ailments in general
are the consequence of (more than 1800) ‘chronic’ diseases, unsolved yet by ‘modern’ (conventional) medicine.

With
  • 1. Heart disease
  • 2. Cancer
  • 3. Diabetes
on top of the statistics.

FOOD RELATED HEALTH BENEFITS – SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

  • Heart disease

In fact, according to the American Heart Association (AHA), almost half of U.S. are struck by cardiovascular disease.

Especially high blood pressure (hypertension), leading to heart failure, heart attack or stroke in manifold way.

This can be avoided in 4 out of 5 cases by certain lifestyle adjustments and healthy diet specifically.

According to the U.S. governmental National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NIH) with special reference to the so called Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH).

With following recommendations of heart health food such as, inter alia,
  • vegetables
  • fruits
  • low fat/fat-free dairy
  • whole grain
  • poultry (‘white meat’)
  • fish
  • nuts
  • beans
  • minerals such as magnesium/calcium/potassium
  • foods with high fiber (lowering heart disease/stroke)

Limiting at the same time
  • added sugar in food and drinks
  • sodium to no more than 1,500 mg per day
  • saturated/trans fats in meat and dairy (to lower ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol)

  • Cancer

To cut down the risk of cancer, antioxidants in food play a major role, as we find them in certain natural foods, according to the U.S. National Cancer Institute.

Such as
  • dark/leafy green vegetables
  • nuts/seeds
  • pumpkin
  • carrots
  • blue-/raspberries

Scientifically verified by, inter alia, the University of Oxford in Oxford, UK.

  • Diabetes

Unlike manifold assumptions that diabetics may better eat nothing at all… we learn from U.S. governmental National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) that natural food for diabetes management is vital – and almost unlimited.

Covering, inter alia,
  • vegetables
  • fruits
  • whole grains
  • protein (like fish/eggs/chicken/turkey)
  • nuts/peanuts

That’s why we don’t list them all here.

Instead, it is more important to know which kinds of food we better avoid/limit in favor of diabetes management.

Such as

  • fried foods
  • foods with high amount of salt/sodium
  • saturated/trans fats
  • sweet foods (like candy, ice cream, etc.)
  • sweetened liquids (like soda, energy drinks, juices, etc.)

Additionally, we should appreciate the benefits of healthy food for

  • Mental problems

Such as, inter alia, depression and cognitive decline.

Based on research at, inter alia,

  • University of California in Los Angeles, CA
  • Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in NY
  • Western Sydney University in Westmead, Australia
           & in the UK at
  • King’s College London in London
  • University of Manchester in Manchester
  • University of Bristol in Bristol

Mediterranean diet is strongly recommended for relief.

With its beneficial nutrients such as, inter alia,
  • fruits & vegetables
  • whole grain
  • legumes
  • olive oil
  • nuts
  • red wine in moderation (because of its polyphenol resveratrol)

Rounded up by nutrients such as vitamins C/D/E and omega-3 fatty acids according to research at the University of Innsbruck in Innsbruck, Austria

Just to cover the most debilitating health issues of our ‘modern’ time.

IN A NUTSHELL

Healthy diet is certainly a basic parameter of our life and longevity. Still, in this respect, it is vital to understand, which kind of food is appropriate for optimization of our physical and mental situation, specifically.
