Since diabetes is one of the top chronic diseases in our industrialized society, it is important to realize in time its development. Know the symptoms - as indicated in this elaboration, verified by U.S. federal agencies and medical research, respectively. Read on the learn about details.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 80% of non-age-related mortality and more than ¾ of all ailments in our industrialized society are based on unsolved (chronic) diseases. With heart failure on top, followed by cancer and diabetes.

The latter, starting in most cases after age 45 and hitting a quarter of U.S. citizens aged 65 and over, comes with the disadvantage of not using the vital hormone insulin correctly in the body, to provide cells with appropriate energy to function. When blood sugar rises because of problems with use/production of insulin. Related to quite a few side effects leading to additional health issues – yes, a vicious cycle.

HOW REALIZE THIS PHENOMENON EARLY ENOUGH?

While it seems easy to verify this situation when going by the numbers, i.e. measuring blood sugar count technically, in order to counterbalance and avoid side effects in time, it is reasonable to realize the diabetic symptoms early enough. To fight this health issue in time.

According to, inter alia, U.S. federal agencies
- National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
and U.S. medical research at, inter alia,
- Weill Cornell Medical College in New York
- Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota

These symptoms may be

  • Fatigue

In cases where cells are lacking glucose due to diabetic situation, the feeling of fatigue may arise.

  • Infections/sores

If blood circulation is poor, it takes more time to recover from infections and sores.

  • Weight loss

In cases of too little insulin, body may burn not only fat but also muscles for energy. Causing weight loss.

  • More hunger

Since organs and muscles are low on energy, as the cells cannot access glucose for energy in diabetic situation, one feels more hungry in this situation.

  • Blurred vision

Blood glucose too high may pull fluid from eye lenses leading to swelling with blurred vision temporarily.

  • Frequent urination/increased thirst

Also, if glucose is too high in the blood stream, body may extract fluid from tissues making more thirsty and more frequent urination.

Another early sign could be darkened skin on, e.g.
- elbows
- knuckles
- armpits
- groin
- neck
- knees
known by the medical term acanthosis nigricans.
