Nature offers us plants favorable & unfavorable for our health. This brief elaboration gives you at least an idea about some plants to watch out for their potential negative impact on your health. Read on to learn about details.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you know latest from our publications and seminars, nature got the  basics for our health and longevity. Including certain plants with appropriate nutrients and remedies. Still, there are plants in our cultivated backyards and gardens, as well as natural environments being counterproductive for our physical and mental wellbeing when, e.g., touched or eaten. Potentially leading not only to gastrointestinal upset but also to problems of our nervous system and even our heart - #1 of chronic disease in our industrialized society.

PLANTS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE FOR HEALTH –
SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIED

According to, inter alia, University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, IL, and Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, OH, verified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA (HQ) & Kampala, Uganda, poisonous plants, as to be found in many parts of North America, may be considered with caution in favor of our health.

Depending if these plants are touched – or eaten.

If touched, this may cause, inter alia,
  • itching
  • rash
  • swelling
  • streraking
  • patches
  • blisters

If eaten, the potential consequences may be, inter alia,
  • high/low blood pressure
  • dermatitis
  • fast/slow heart rate
  • nausea/vomiting
  • fever
  • headaches
  • mental problems
  • shortness of breath
  • swellings
  • blisters
  • etc.

Just to take a small sample of 5 poisonous plants.

E.g.,

Oleander

Originally a native to the Mediterranean, is found today also in the U.S. at Lake Mead National Park in Nevada, the Death Valley National Park in California and in Hawaii. Planted in gardens and on roadside.

Although looking very nice with its colors red/orange/white/yellow, its substance oleandrin may well have an impact on heart function and even be lethal at higher dosage.

Jimson weed

is to be found in pastures and on roadside also of warm climates. With white or purple flowers.

Consuming it, can potentially have basically mental impact with respect to, inter alia,
  • loss of consciousness
  • dizziness/confusion
  • hallucinations
  • disorientation
  • aggressive behavior

Giant hogweed

Its hollow stem contains a substance termed noxious sap not only causing potentially blistering of skin in situations of sunlight exposure but can also lead to (permanent/temporary) blindness when getting into the eyes.

Preferring cool areas with moisture, we find this plant, e.g., at
  • on meadows
  • rail tracks
  • in ditches
  • on roadsides
  • along river banks
  • etc.

Usually up to 15 ft tall and 3 ft wide. Visually appreciated because of their white flowers.

Poison hemlock

This plant, to be found usually in shady areas with moist soil at roadsides and/or marshes and pastures, can turn out comprehensively problematic for our health – if ingested.

As, in this case, it may not only cause muscle damage and tremors but harm kidneys and have a negative effect on the heart rate by slowing it down.

Manchineel

Basically found on the shores of tropical areas like in Florida with yellow-green flowers, when touched, it may cause itching, swelling, burning and blisters.

IN A NUTSHELL

Nature offers us a kingdom of plants – favorable & unfavorable for our health. This brief elaboration gives you at least an idea about some plants to watch out for their potential negative impact on your health.
