While heart disease has launched the highest non-age-related death toll in our industrialized society, right food can relieve this drama, rounded up by appropriate lifestyle. Read on to learn more about.

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND

As you have learned from our publications and seminars latest, our body and mind is a most complex phenomenon. Basically supported by our cardiovascular system with our heart as its center part. Supporting all cells and organs of our physical and mental system with appropriate nutrients and oxygen.

This implies that our arteries and our heart specifically, does not only require right quantities of what to transport and furnish our existence with, but the quality – above all.

So far, so good? Not necessarily, because heart disease – according to the World Health Organization (WHO) – is the #1 of debilitating and unsolved health issue in our industrialized society. Followed by cancer.

With special reference to the fact that many of us do not support our cardiovascular system with the appropriate diet and lifestyle as follows.

RIGHT FOOD FOR HEART

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), additional to basically (though not exclusively) fruits and vegetables, we should consume in favor of our heart and its cardiovascular system, inter alia,

  • whole grain (bread/pasta/brown rice/oats/etc)
  • oily seafood/fish (like salmon/herring/mackerel/sardines/etc.)
  • fat free/low fat dairy (like skim or 1% milk/yogurt/cheeses)
  • protein (preferably 2-3 cups daily from plants such as nuts/legumes/seeds)
  • lean meats (skinless poultry/turkey/chicken/wild game)
  • olive oil
  • alcohol only in moderation

With special reference also to Mediterranean diet about which you have learned from us previously.

FOOD TO LIMIT/AVOID

At the same time, AHA recommends limit

     *     red meat (because of its high content of saturated fat)
  • foods/beverages sweetened with sugar (to limit calories)
  • processed food (because of its high content of sugar/salt/trans fats/ saturated fat/food colorings/additives)
  • refined carbohydrates (as white bread/pasta/cookies/breakfast cereals/pizza, etc.)
           and finally
  • salt (as the manifold cause of high blood pressure)

To be rounded up with

ADDITIONAL LIFESTYLE SUPPORT

such as, inter alia,

* avoiding sedentary habit
* quitting smoking
* stress relieve with mindfulness or yoga

These natural mechanisms are scientifically verified internationally by, inter alia,

= Friedman School of Nutrition/Tufts University in Boston, MA
- Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD
- University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI
- Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA
= Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA

IN A NUTSHELL
